"A more reserved and less expressive nose grudgingly offers up restrained but wonderfully pure and complex aromas of somber dark pinot fruit and earth hints that also suffuse the round but detailed and focused flavors that are supple and forward if less refined before finishing with fine intensity and length. Lovely stuff that offers a very different expression compared to the Charmes." (Jan 2010)
Wine produced from organic pinot noir grapes. This wine has been aged for about 18 months in French oak casks, of which 50% are of new oak. Its exposure encourages quite slow maturing, which is ideal for a nearly perfect balance of tannin and alcohol. It is one of the most powerful wines, combining complexity, density, length and a right mineral intensity. The nose reveals a deep and complex structure and displays notes of ripe fruit, flowers, and almost salty hints. On the palate it shows a great density and a highly typical aftertaste on a mineral background.
