Formerly known as Domaine Rene Engel, the previous winemaker, Philippe Engel, passed away in 2006. Without a natural successor, the family decided to sell the property. The new owner is Francois Pinault, the head of luxury giant, PPR Group, as well as owner of Chateau Latour. With only 6.5 hectaure of vineyard, Pinault paid a large sum of 13 million euros, reflecting the rarity and quality of these prime sites. With additional investment and a complete new winemaking team, Domaine D’Eugenie is able to continue the legacy and produce classic wines from Vosne Romanee.
BH:89 Burghound: 89 " A beautiful and completely classic Vosne nose features notably ripe black and blue fruit aromas nuanced by violet hints that can also be found on the sweet, fresh, pure and nicely intense middle weight flavors that are supported by equally ripe structural elements on the long and balanced finish. A lovely villages." (Jan 2008)
