Within just a decade since his first release in 1993, Dominique Laurent has already proven his superb winemaking skills. He is a negociant-eleveur who works closely with the vignerons from day one of planting, and breeds the vines jointly with them. One of the key elements of Dominique's approach is that he only picks old vines (sometimes exceptionally old vines at 80+ years old) for his wines, which help boost the extra layer of depth and complexity in this wine.
CellarTracker: 93 "In the glass the wine is still showing a surprisingly dark garnet in the middle, lightening towards a transparent rim. Not the bright, strawberry and red fruit dominated nose one gets to see so often, this is fairly dark and complex. Great balance on the palate, earth, red and dark fruit, a bit of sous bois, even a touch of something like soy sauce. Light to medium tannins and a perfect acidity give this a very nice composure. Medium to long finish. Fantastic wine. 93-94" (Sep 2013)
