  • The domaine dated back before the French Revolution, when Joseph Grivot sold his vineyards in Hautes Cotes and settled in Vosne-Romanee
  • Joseph's son, Gaston, was one of the first graduate of oenology from Univ. of Dijon in 1920s; together with Jean (Gaston's son), they built up the reputation of the domaine worldwide
  • In 1987, Etienne, the current winemaker, took over the domaine upon finishing his study of viti- and viniculture and working in California and elsewhere in France
  • Etienne brought in new improvements to the domaine by focusing on the basics (soil's balance, yield management, harvesting dates, use of oak, etc.)
  • The wine we selected from this talented winemaker is his premier cru Les Boudots from Nuits-St-Georges (note that there is no grand cru in Nuits-St-Georges, and if there were to be one, Les Boudots would likely be the one)

Wine Advocate: 89-91
"The floral and perfumed aromas of the ruby-colored 1999 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Boudots lead to an ample, satin-textured, and medium-bodied personality. This lush, broad, and rich wine has excellent to outstanding depth of candied cherries in its delightfully velvety personality. Drink it over the next 8 years." (Aug 2001)
