  • Mongeard Mugneret entered into the world of Burgundy wine in the 18th century; now its entire holding covers over 25 hectare, across 22 appellations
  • Always an excellent source for excellent Burgundy wines at reasonable price
  • Vincent Mongeard describes 2008 as "tres classique...the vintage was challenging but there have been worse years in terms of weather; the only problem with 2008 is that the yields were really pitiful...
  • ...I would compare 2008 to vintages that are very pinot in character, such as 1992 or 2002"
  • From vines in the climats of Echezeaux du Dessus and Les Treux, with 75% new oak used

Burghound: 90-92
"A ripe, spicy and relatively elegant aromatic profile presents a fruit array that is primarily red-fruit based. The rich and full-bodied flavors possess ample volume and the tannins are really quite fine but dense and as such, the persistent and solidly well-balanced finish is firm and mildly austere. This will not be an early drinker. " (Jan 2010)

Wine Spectator: 90
"A minty accent graces black cherry and earth flavors in this slightly chunky red, which is a bit rigid now, but starts out silky, so let it settle down and absorb the tannins. Fine length. Best from 2013 through 2024." (Jun 2011)
