  • Mongeard Mugneret entered into the world of Burgundy wine in the 18th century; now its entire holding covers over 25 hectare, across 22 appellations
  • Always an excellent source for excellent Burgundy wines at reasonable price
  • Vincent Mongeard describes 2008 as "tres classique...the vintage was challenging but there have been worse years in terms of weather; the only problem with 2008 is that the yields were really pitiful...
  • ...I would compare 2008 to vintages that are very pinot in character, such as 1992 or 2002"
  • This comes from Mongeard's portfolio in Grands Echezeaux with 1.32 hectare in size

Burghound: 91-94
"Prominent oak frames cool but ripe spicy red and black cherry and earth aromas that can also be found on the rich, sleekly muscular and broad-scaled flavors that are powerful and driving on the strikingly intense finish that is chewy but not aggressive and blessed with impressive balance. Note however that this is a very firm '08 and will not be a precocious drinker, at least not if you're interested in seeing its full potential." (Jan 2010)

Wine Spectator: 93
"Alluring rose, black currant, cherry and sandalwood aromas and flavors highlight this elegant red, which has finesse, but also saturates the palate with its fruit and spice, picking up a mineral element on the aftertaste. Best from 2013 through 2025." (May 2011)
