Mongeard Mugneret entered into the world of Burgundy wine in the 18th century; now its entire holding covers over 25 hectare, across 22 appellations
Always an excellent source for excellent Burgundy wines at reasonable price
Vincent Mongeard describes 2009 as a "very clean crop... first time that I have ever seen this kind of quality linked to this kind of quality and that includes 1990 and 1999...
...I really like the quality of the 09's because not only are they excellent but there is a tenderness to the wines that makes them very appealing"
An excellent grand cru in Mongeard's portfolio with 1.32 hectare in size
Burghound: 91-93 "This is also quite reduced and it's impossible to fairly assess the nose. The big-bodied flavors are also admirably concentrated and quite serious with a brooding character as well as a very firm yet ripe tannic spine that is well-buffered by the ample sap. Like the old vines Ech, this should be capable of absorbing its wood if given a few years in bottle first." (Jan 2011)
