  • Mongeard Mugneret entered into the world of Burgundy wine in the 18th century; now its entire holding covers over 25 hectare, across 22 appellations
  • Always an excellent source for excellent Burgundy wines at reasonable price
  • Vincent Mongeard describes 2008 as "tres classique...the vintage was challenging but there have been worse years in terms of weather; the only problem with 2008 is that the yields were really pitiful...
  • ...I would compare 2008 to vintages that are very pinot in character, such as 1992 or 2002"
  • From vines adjacent to those of Domaine de la Romanee Conti in Richebourg, proper totaling 0.31 hectare only

Burghound: 92-94
" Here the aromatic profile is completely different because while this too is on the generously oaked side, the spicy red, blue, black and floral aromas are reserved to the point of being downright reluctant and the big, robust, powerful, intense and rich flavors are also tight yet the underlying material is notable and if not super dense, then certainly up to the task of absorbing the wood, all wrapped in a youthfully austere but long and impeccably balanced finish. A promising Riche." (Jan 2010)

Wine Spectator: 94
"A beautiful, silky red, with sweet cherry, flowers and spices. The structure is there, but it's well-integrated, and this offers charm and a sense of place. There's a finely woven aftertaste of berry, mineral and oak spice. Best from 2014 through 2028. 18 cases made." (Jun 2011)
