Mongeard Mugneret entered into the world of Burgundy wine in the 18th century. Now, the domaine’s entire holding covers over 25 hectare, across 22 appellations. This domaine has always been an excellent source for excellent Burgundy wines at very reasonable price. Vincent Mongeard describes 2009 as a "very clean crop... first time that I have ever seen this kind of quality linked to this kind of quality and that includes 1990 and 1999...I really like the quality of the 09's because not only are they excellent but there is a tenderness to the wines that makes them very appealing".
Burghound: 90 "Discreet but not invisible wood sets off the notably ripe blue berry and cassis aromas that are in keeping with the velvety, ripe and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that possess good power and solid length. This sample is on the woody side but as the final blend has only 30% new oak, this should ultimately be fine." (Jan 2011)
